Not an English native? Check out how to create grammatically correct content.

Hi, guys!

Since English is not my mother tongue sometimes I find it difficult to write pages and posts without not even a single mistake. Sometimes I rush to write faster, sometimes I forget commas, sometimes there are different words difficult to write such as acquaintances or sometimes I don’t even know how to write a different word.

I believe that I am not the only one that struggles with the English grammar. Indeed, there are a couple o ways to exercise and to improve your skills.  You can chat with a native friend, you can browse different websites about English grammar and you can even hire a proofreader to help you out. However, sometimes this might not be the most efficient solution.

As a website owner, you will have to write and create a lot of pages for your business. Therefore, you can’t always count on your friends to help you out. At some point along the line, they will eventually get tired to help you out. If you decide to research the internet for every word that you don’t know, it will take you a lot of time. And about hiring a proofreader, don’t even get me started to calculate how much money you will waste on them in order to correct each page.

So what can you do to assure that your content is grammatically correct?

Fortunately for you, if you are using the Google Chrome browser, there exists an extension called Grammarly. I am not sure if this program is exclusive for Chrome browser only. However, as it states in the title, this is the version for Chrome. Therefore, I believe that you should be able to find it on other browsers as well. However,  further on I will show you how to find it and activate it on Chrome.

So, how can this program help you out?

When you add and activate this program on your browser, it will immediately start and analyse your text for grammar mistakes. This way, you won’t have to waste any time waiting for external help. It will check your spelling while you are writing on Gmail, Linkedin, Facebook, WordPress etc.

Is it free?

It has a free version that I am currently using for more than two months right now. There is also a Premium version of this program.

Don’t worry too much. You won’t need this premium version. Indeed, there are a few punctuation errors that the free version won’t show them to you. However, the free version will let you know of all the major errors that you make such as forgetting a comma, mispronunciation and the free version will also analyse your context and it will alert you when you have a word that is out of context. It will highlight any wrong word with a red line and when you hover your mouse over it, it will give you offer you suggestions that make sense in your context.

So how do you install it?

The first thing you want to do is to go on the top right menu and click on the 3 vertical points. Now, you have to hover your mouse over the More Tools section of the menu. When the additional menu pops up, click on the Extensions feature. Make sure that you are in the extensions tab on the left bar and not in the settings. Now, you will have to scroll down until you will see the Get more extensions hyperlinked text. Once you found it, click on it.

Enter Grammarly on the left search bar and you should see the Grammarly for Chrome extension. It has over 20,000 ratings and over 10 million downloads. Now, since you don’t have it installed, you will see a + ADD TO CHROME blue button, as you can see below at the Turn Off the Lights extension. Click on it and activate it. That’s all you need to do.

This is a pretty great solution in order to improve your English grammar.

  1. Great information! I did not know about this program; I am use to hiring a third party to proof read my material, and depending on others. This way I can not only learn for myself, but not have to wait on others. Thank you for the information! I also love the fact that you can connect additional social networks.

    1. Hi, Jheri!

You are most welcome! By getting this extension to your browser will also save you money that you can use to invest in ad campaigns :D! I am glad that my post helped you out! Cheers!

  2. Thank you for the advise.
I’m a non English native writer, and I’m using Ginger, it does the work for me but I keep being asked to upgrade for premium every now and then.
I’ll try Grammarly as well, I’ll keep all these helpful tools in hands.
    Thanks again

    1. Hi, Rawan!

Hmm, I never heard about Ginger, but I have to say that Grammarly never asked me to upgrade to the premium version. Of course, sometimes it asked me by email, which is normal, but if we don’t take this into consideration I have to say that I never saw a popup or a banner or anything that asked me to upgrade. 🙂 Hope that you will enjoy Grammarly as well as I do!
