Mistake of the day – Wealthy Affiliate

Hey, guys!

From time to time I like to post a few mistakes that I made while owning a website. The one that I am going to share with you today is especially for those of you that decided to join Wealthy Affiliate, but it also applies to everyone else.

Since you’ve been working on your website at Wealthy Affiliate, you probably noticed that your “Website Trust” is increasing by 10% each month.

The biggest mistake I made is that I thought that this is connected to Google’s SE’s trust on my website. IT IS NOT. It is basically just a measurement of WA. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOOGLE OR YAHOO.

In order to prove you this, I will show you my Halloween website’s stats.

I haven’t created any content since Halloween and as you can see, my site trust is at 70%. If I would search google on any keyword that I wrote, chances are that I will be able to find my website on pages from 20 to 30.

After my second month at WA, I saw that my site trust raised again by 10$ to 20%. I haven’t wrote anything on it and I thought that it increased due to the fact that I have created many posts and pages in my first month. I thought that this was connected somehow to Google’s perspective on my website. It was not and I found out only on my 5th or 6th month. Therefore, I have wasted around 4-5 months waiting for my website to produce money.

I wasn’t very bright, but this is how you learn. It was a waste of both money and time. On my 3rd month I also saw an increase of 10% and I thought that if I do nothing I will achieve 50-60% of Google’s trust. Boy, I was wrong. I didn’t wrote any word at all on the website believing that I will get Google’s trust anyway.

Therefore, ignore those site trust stats and create content as much as you can. I have content waiting to be published for 2 weeks in advance now since I took a break, of 10 days, from creating content. I have scheduled to publish around 3 posts a week. I am aiming at creating content for around 3-4 months in advance and I hope to succeed that before the 1st of June.

I advise you try create content on a weekly basis. In the beginning, you should try to publish two posts or pages with over 600 words per week. That should do it for the first month. After that you can try and increase the frequency of publishing content. Three posts/pages a week would be perfect. At 7-8 months, you should aim to publish around 5-6 posts/pages a week. It is not very hard. For example, in 4-5 days I succeeded on creating 21 posts. Β That’s like 5 times more than enough. Β Of course, I haven’t published them in the same week because that would be insane and I would had to publish at least half the next week. Don’t know how to create quality content for your website? Check this post here in order to see my tips and to find out from where you can obtain new ideas for fresh content for your website.

I also created one post about why is it bad to have a content writer that you can find here. Moreover, as some people argued in the comments, I also created a post here where I share with you some of the benefits of why you should have a content writer. In case you don’t know from where you can hire a content writer, check my post here, where I share with you a few websites and I give more details about my charges for writing content.

Well, this is one of the most important tips that I want to share with you. If you have any other questions or feedback, write them in the comment section below!! As always, I will gladly respond to all of your questions!

  2. Very interesting read! Now I know that the site trust on WA has nothing to do with Google’s SE. I thought 600 words was too short a post but thanks for the clarification here.

    1. Hello, Bea!

I am glad that my post provided you with new information! This way I avoid for other people to fall into the same trap that I did. You have to thin big, you have to aim at over 20 comments on a post. I have a lot of posts with over 1500 words just from the comments received. Let’s say that you will have 20 comments of 94 words on average. That means that you will have an extra 1880 words for your post. Add your initial 600 words per post and it will result that your post will have 2480 words. Still believe that 600 words for a post are too short?
