How To increase The traffic Of A Youtube Channel In 2017

Ever heard of that guy that created a channel and became successful/famous from the first try?


Neither did I!

Once you got to this step, the next thing that you need to do is to put everything in practice and to try to create better and better videos. Success will never come from the first try. It is impossible. The most successful people that you know of probably tried and failed for hundreds of times until they figured out what they need to do. This is the same thing that you are going to do!


So, how to increase the traffic of a youtube channel?

1) Be persistent

Even though you won’t see great results in the first months, you need to stay devoted to your goals and to create and publish videos. This is similar to a website as well. I haven’t received any good traffic for at least 3 months and yet, despite the odds and despite being in an overly competitive niche, I created and published 3 to 4 posts each week.

The key is to keep pushing despite the fact that you don’t see results.

Just keep pushing forward. Remember, building a  million $ business takes time. Whoever tells you that it can be done over night is definitely a scammer!

You need to have an iron will, to make sure that you found good keywords and to publish frequently. In the first month you can publish twice a week, but in the following months, if you want to succeed, you need to publish at least 3-4 times a week.

By being consistent, you will start to build loyal subscribers who will watch all your past and future videos.

You don’t need to create and to publish the videos in the same day. You have a video posting feature that allows you to schedule your videos to be published whenever you want. Therefore, let’s say that if today you feel inspired, you can easily create 4-5 videos of 6-10 minutes and to have them scheduled to be published for the next 2 weeks/ 2 weeks and a half. Therefore, with the work done in 1-2 hours(video editing included), you can schedule all the videos and take time off for the next two weeks.

Make sure to let your subscribers know when they can expect a new video. Imagine it like a TV series or like a film series. Once you watched the first movie of a trilogy or the first episode of a season of a TV series, you can’t wait until the next movie or episode is out in order to see it. If they like you, your subscribers will want to know when your next video is out!!

For example, you can schedule one video every Monday at 12 PM and one video Friday at 20:00.


2) Use the same theme


By building every video with the same theme, it will help you build a brand. With time, people will start to recognize your videos by different aspects of the videos and they will more likely watch them.

But what does a video theme mean?

When talking about video theme, I am referring about the fact to have the same background, text fonts, text colors and video pattern.

For example, most of the prank channels have the pranksters wearing t-shirts with the brand logo on them. This also helps at promoting your channel in the case that someone shared your video on a FB page, the viewer will know who the video belongs to by seeing the logo.

3) Leave your audience hanging


One of the most powerful techniques is to capture your audience by leaving them hanging. This means that at the end of any video, you should drop a bomb where you state what your next video will be about. You have to do it in a professional such that your audience becomes intrigued.

For example, if you are in the showbiz niche, you can simply drop the bomb like: “Oh and make sure to check the next video where we will discuss about Trump’s secret affair”. If you are in the food niche you can say something like “That’s it for today’s video on how to make a spicy pizza. Make sure to watch tomorrow’s video on how to create the cheesiest pizza in less than 10 minutes”.

Humans are curious by nature and in today’s society most of  Youtube channel owners exploit this in order to increase their revenue.

You need to drop a bomb that will make the visitor curious to watch the next video. This way it will increase the number of views and likes. However, make sure to stay to your promise and deliver quality content or you will lose your audience!


4) Ask for feedback


The best way to get to know what your audience wants is to ask them directly. You can simply ask different relevant questions in your videos, choose the responses that are most popular and based on them you can create the next video.

Make sure for the question to be relevant to your theme. For example, if you have a channel about making pizza, you can ask them what type of pizza they’d like to create. A week later, you can create a video on that.

This helps you with building loyalty. It clearly shows that you care about your audience. It can also help you to come up with fresh ideas. Let’s face it… we may have ideas for the next 50 videos, but at some point down the road we won’t have any ideas for the next videos.

5) Engage with your audience


This can be a fun thing to do. Simply go and answer to their comments. This will show them that you care about them and will help you build loyalty.

You can also take the example of Pewdiepie who asks his audience to fist bump at the end of each video. Try to create your own signature move. Seeing that you care about them, will make them more likely to like and share your videos.

6) Team up with other Youtubers


There can be a big discussion on this subject. However, I firmly believe that if you team up with other youtubers that are in the same niche as you, will help you out.

You can get an insight of how they create videos about that niche. You can learn more in depth information about that particular niche. You can make friends and combine your channels. This will help you by increasing the publishing frequency to 3-4 videos a week. Imagine if you don’t have enough time to create a video this week. You can simply ask them to cover you :).

On the other hand, this can pretty easily ruin you. They can have their own point of view and not listen to your ideas. They can exploit you as much as they can and when they don’t have any ideas left to pick up from you, they will simply kick you out and make room for someone else. They can assume all the glory, even though you made all the hard work and so on. 

If you choose to team up, the first step you need to make is to establish a healthy relationship with them. How you do that?

Start by subscribing to their channel and liking their videos. The next step is to leave them positive feedback and to ask them questions. 

Maybe they won’t notice this week, maybe not even this month, but somewhere along the line they will notice you. After some time you can contact them  directly and let them know about your channel.

  1. Hi Andrei, this making of, sounds like a real thrill. I am working on a website and I must say, many tips you give here I can use there as well. For me, the making of my youtube channel has to wait for a little for now. It seems to be a great deal of work and as long as my website needs my 100% involvement I will concentrate on that.

      Well, I try to approach it as an online business. You can’t go around and aim higher and take the Youtube channel as a “game”. Over 95% of the time you will fail. You need to approach it as a real business. To take things seriously and to not give up until you succeed. The same goes for your website. I think that it would be a great way to add Youtube videos to your posts and pages and when you afford a content writer for your website, to focus more on the Youtube channel. That way, when you’re finished with the website, you won’t start from zero with the Youtube Channel. You would probably already have 500-1000-5000-10000 subscribers.
