Building a BlogInactive

How To create Your Blog For Free in 4 STEPS in 2017

In the second lesson I will show you How To create Your Blog For Free. For those of you who accessed this page directly, I would recommend you first to take a look at the beginning of How to create a Blog guide

There are three ways to have a blog and I will explain all of them with pros and cons:

  1. To create it and host it for free at Wealthy Affiliate.
  2.  To create it and host it another place -> Where you will have to pay for it.
  3. To purchase one from me at a reasonable price.

1) How to create your Blog for free in 4 steps

Now, this is the easiest way to create a blog. This is my favorite way since you don’t need to know any coding skills, you don’t need to have any experience and you don’t have to spend a single dime for it.

I have created all and hosted all of my websites at Wealthy Affiliate. Now let me tell you a few things about them if you want to create your blog for free.

Wealthy Affiliate is more than a service that helps fresh bloggers to create and establish a blog or a website. Basically, Wealthy Affiliate is a community, of over 800,000 registered members, that offers training around building a website on WordPress, Internet Marketing, Social Media Marketing, E-commerce, E-mail campaigns, Ads campaigns etc. They have hundreds of guides about anything you need to know about having an Online Business and they offer up to two website creation and hosting for free. If you want to learn more, I would suggest you to check my Wealthy Affiliate honest review.

  • 2 websites for free.
  • No credit card information required at any moment
  • Free membership for lifetime
  • Access to 800,000 Online Entrepreneurs. *There are even millionaires out there!!
  • Access to 2 training classrooms.
  • 1-on-1 Coaching for the first 7 days.
  • Daily website Backup
  • Live Chat for the first 7 days
  • Access to Video Walk Throughs
  • Access to the Keyword Research Tool
  • Beginner Training Course

*Remember that all of those benefits are for the free membership that you can have for lifetime. They have additional features in the Premium membership, but for the start I would suggest you to go with the free membership.

  • In the free membership you will have a domain.
  • At first, the information might seem overwhelming.
  • Members are too friendly and sometimes you risk to lose a lot of time discussing with them.

Creating the blog

Step 1) Write anything you like in the box below.

At this moment the name you introduce is not important since it will not be the final name of your blog. Therefore, write anything that comes to your mind and hit on the Build it Now button.

Step 2) Repeat the process from Step 1

Once you clicked on the build it now button, you should get redirected to a page similar to this one.

Here, you have to write once again a random name. It won’t be the final name of your blog so don’t waste too much time to come up with the perfect name. We will get to that later :).

After writing a name that is Available click on the Build My Free Website! button.

Step 3) Registering at Wealthy Affiliate

Write all of the data. Make sure to insert a valid e-mail since this is how you will maintain communications with Wealthy Affiliate.

Don’t worry about choosing a Username. You can change it at anytime you want :).

Once you insert all the data, click on the Create Account & Continue.

Now, for the new users, Kyle(owner of WA) has created an introduction tutorial to the platform. Feel free to watch it or to skip it.

For those of you that decided to watch it, you will need to do the following in order to get to the Build a Website feature.

*For those of you that skipped the intro, you can skip to Step 4 since you will automatically get redirected to the Site Builder feature.

For those of you that decided to watch the short introduction to Wealthy Affiliate, in order to get to the Site builder , the first thing you need to do is to focus your attention to the left menu.

Here, hover your mouse over the Site Rubix blue button.

Once the second menu pops up, click on the Site Builder feature.

Step 4) Building your blog.

Since you are new to this, I am going to take each element individually.

1-> What kind of website do you want to build

As a free member, you need to select the “On a free domain”.

2-> Choose a domain name for your website

Here is where you have to think about the name that you want. This name is important since you won’t be able to change it afterwards unless you create a new blog or unless you purchase a private domain.

Think about something that is relevant to your niche. If you want to create a blog where you will discuss about books you might choose something as “TheLateNightBook” or “The-Late-Night-Book”.

Choosing a name that is specific to your niche gives the search engines an information about what your blog is about and it will rank your blog better in their results.

3-> Enter a title for your website

Here you can add any name you want. You will be able to change it at any time you want.

4-> Choose a design for your website

As a free member, you will have to choose between 8 themes. For a blog, I would suggest you to choose the “Twenty-Sixteen” theme.

It is a very popular theme that is simple to use.

Don’t waste too much time on choosing the theme. You can change it at any moment you want.

Once you complete all those steps, make sure to take an additional look at the domain, and click on build my website now.

That’s it. You are done!

In order to access it, go to the left menu, hover your mouse over the Site Rubix button and click on the Site Manager feature and click Log in.

2) Create and Host it on another platform

The second method is to create your website and host it on another platform.

I already created a tutorial on this and since it is long I won’t write it again here. Click on the button below and scroll:

What you need to understand about this method is that it will cost you. It will cost both creating a website and the monthly hosting. This is why I started with the Wealthy Affiliate method.

  • Not being overwhelmed by information
  • No community.
  • Creating a website costs.
  • Hosting a website costs.
  • No WordPress guides/lessons.
  • Site Backups costs.
  • No community.
  • No 1-on-1 coach.
  • No marketing/e-commerce/social media guides.

Everything you want to do to a blog it will cost in other places. Of course, if you take only one thing it might be cheap, but if you think about it, you will need a loft of features and help in the beginning.

3) Buy a blog from me

The last option is to purchase a blog from me. Now, I am not going to harass you into buying from me and I believe that it would be probably wiser to go with Wealthy Affiliate since there will be more people to help you out.

Anyway, those are the main Pros and Cons of purchasing a blog from me:

  • Prices for every pocket.
  • Access to a lot of tutorials on using WordPress.
  • Access to SEO tutorials.
  • Possibility to have a blog with a PRIVATE domain.
  • Website hosting&Backup included.
  • Social Media Accounts.
  • Possibility to choose between Premium WA themes.
  • Already built menus& installed Plugins.
  • Can help you take shortcuts, instead of figuring out on yourself how all things come together.
  • Extra: Blog SEO, In-Page SEO, personalized e-mails, SSL certificate, E-Commerce section, Website Feedback etc.
  • I am only one person instead of 800,000 members.
  • It costs money.

*It is important to remember that by deciding to buy from me it will just save you time. You still have the same chances to succeed as you would sign up to Wealthy Affiliate.
