How To Create A Link In WordPress In 1 min

Hi, guys!

In this post, I will show you how to create a link in WordPress. It is a very simple process and as I stated in the link, it should take you only 1 minute.

So, now you have a website and a few posts. But you want to create inner links between your pages and posts. Now you don’t want to write the whole link down and you want to have a word or a bunch of words that when pressed, they will redirect you to another page from your website or to an external website.

There are two methods to obtain this. The first one where I show you how to do it by pressing some buttons or a more technical one where you need to write code. I will show you both ways since recently I started to learn HTML.

Method 1)

If you don’t hate your life, then I suggest you follow this method. Once you opened a post or page where you want to attach a link, the first thing you need to do is to highlight the words that you want to open a new link when pressed by your audience.

The second step is to go to the menu with the symbols just above the post and to click on that symbol that looks like a piece of a chain(*English is not my mother tongue, LOL). When the box has opened, you need to enter your URL into the empty field and click on the blue button.

Now, when someone will click on those words, they will get redirected to the URL that you’ve chosen as the destination. What if you want for that URL to open in a new tab such that your visitors will still stay on your page?

Then click on the setup icon from step 4.

A new window should pop up. Now you have two choices. First is to copy paste the link in the URL field. The second step, if you want people to redirect to a page from your website, you can search for that page’s or post’s title in the search bar. Remember if the page or post is not from your website, the page won’t show in the results.

Now that you selected the page that you want to open, you have to check the Open link in a new tab box and then click on the Add Link blue button.

That’s it. You’re done. Don’t forget to update your post by pressing the Update blue button on your right corner.

Method 2)

Now, this method is for those that hate their lives.

It is not a very hard code to write. Go to the Text tab of your editor and write the following code:

<a href=”Website URL”>Write any words you want here</a>

If you want for the link to open in a new tab, then use the following code:

<a href=”Website URL” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Write any words you want here</a>

That’s pretty much all you need to write.

Don’t forget to save your post or page by clicking on the Update blue button on the right corner!!
