In today’s post, I am going to talk a little bit about if you can or can’t transfer the comments between posts and pages
Passing comments from a post to another seems to good to be true, am I right? Well, unfortunately, this is the scenario.
You can’t pass the comments from a post to another. However, there is a solution for your problem if you are willing enough to do it.
So, I am sure that you probably know that in order for someone to leave you a comment, he will need to add 3 elements. The first element that he or she or whatever gender he/she/it identifies himself/herself will need to insert the name. This can be anything at all.
The second element that you need to insert in order to leave a comment is your e-mail address. The third element that someone can insert(it is not a must) is their website.
Now, the first two elements are required in order for someone to leave you a comment on your post.
The way I see it, the only solution for you to be able to transfer the comments from a page to another is to contact everyone that has left you a message on that particular post and ask them if they are kind enough to leave you a comment on the other post as well.
I haven’t tried it yet, but taking in consideration my nation’s mentality, I would say that your chance for someone to be willing to do this will be anywhere between 1-5%.
This could be due to a variety of reasons such as:
- They didn’t wrote a valid e-mail;
- They don’t check their e-mail frequently;
- They are lazy;
- They don’t want to and so on.
Let’s say that you are lucky and people want to help you out.
Now, the main problem that you will face is that even if you delete the comment from the previous post, it will still stay in the search engine’s archive for a period of time.
So, if someone will copy paste the comment from the previous post to your new post, it will be considered as duplicate content and it will be ignored by the search engines.
I don’t really know for how long they will keep the data in the archives. I only know that a few months ago(4-5) I have deleted a website and even today I can find the posts on Google search.
So, as a conclusion, you will have to ask those persons to write a whole new comment, that is not similar to the first one. Even if they cut out a few words, the search engines are smart enough to detect if it is duplicate content.
That’s all on today’s discussion. If you have any questions, feel free to share them with me in the comment section below! Cheers!
